The short version
When you buy hosting through some links on this site, the provider pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. Commissions never change our rankings, scores, or verdicts — those come from data, and several of the providers we rank highest pay us nothing at all.
How we earn money
HostingScale is funded by affiliate commissions. Some outbound links to hosting providers are affiliate links: if you click one and then buy, the provider pays us a referral fee. The price you pay is the same either way — the commission comes out of the provider's marketing budget, not your pocket.
What commissions never touch
- Rankings — position is computed from weighted, structured data (performance, pricing, support, refund terms). There is no field in our database for “pays us more”.
- Editorial scores — scored against published criteria; see the Editorial Policy.
- Renewal-price warnings — we surface renewal jumps even when they make an affiliate partner look bad. That is the point of the site.
- Coverage — providers with no affiliate program are listed, scored, and ranked identically.

Affiliate links on this site are routed through our own /go/ redirect (which is how we count clicks) and carry rel="sponsored nofollow" markup. Every page that contains them also carries a one-line disclosure linking here.
